Medicine Counter Assistants (MCAs) or Pharmacy Assistants support pharmacists in ordering, preparing, and dispensing medicines. They work within pharmacy teams, often in community pharmacies or retail settings.

Responsibilities:

  • Tidiness: MCAs maintain an organized pharmacy environment.
  • Inventory Management: They use computer systems to create stock lists and labels, order items, and handle deliveries.
  • Sales: MCAs sell over-the-counter medicines and address customer inquiries in person or over the phone.
  • Medication Preparation: They pre-pack, assemble, label, and prepare medicines.
  • Problem Resolution: MCAs refer issues to the pharmacist.

Admission Requirements

Applicants for this programme must be science students with credit passes (C6 or better) in English Language, Mathematics, Science, Chemistry, Biology
and Physics.
